Historically the port of Sóller has been an important reference point in the Mediterranean and has always been a strategic port due to its location. Already in early years, the port became an important place for import and export, mainly for oranges and lemons. In the past, the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains were a major obstacle for the inhabitants to contact and above all trade, to make possible with the rest of the island.
